Privacy Policy

Lairik Technologies ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you use LAIRIK, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. This policy applies to all users of lairik.in and the LAIRIK application. It complies with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011 of India.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

a) Account Information

• Google Sign-In: Name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account.
• Phone Sign-In: Mobile phone number, used for OTP verification.
• This information is provided by you at the time of account creation and is stored in Firebase Authentication (Google).

b) Chat and Usage Data

• The questions you ask and the AI responses you receive are saved in Firebase Firestore to enable chat history and continuity.
• The number of questions asked (for free trial tracking) and subscription status.
• The subjects you study (Mathematics, Science, Social Science, English).

c) Payment Information

• Payment processing is handled by our payment partner (Razorpay). We do not store your credit card, debit card, or UPI details on our servers.
• We receive a payment confirmation, subscription status, and transaction reference from our payment partner.

d) Technical Data

• Browser type, device type, operating system, and approximate location (city/region level only, from IP address).
• Usage analytics via Google Analytics 4 (GA4) - pages visited, time on page, session duration. This data is aggregated and anonymised.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information collected for the following purposes:

• Account management: Creating and maintaining your LAIRIK account and authenticating your identity.
• Tutoring service: Generating AI responses to your questions using your chat history as context for accurate, personalised tutoring.
• Free trial management: Tracking the number of questions used in your free trial period.
• Subscription management: Processing payments and managing your subscription status.
• Service improvement: Analysing usage patterns to improve the quality, accuracy, and performance of LAIRIK.
• Communications: Sending service-related notifications such as subscription confirmations or important policy updates. We do not send unsolicited marketing emails.
• Safety and security: Detecting and preventing fraudulent account creation and abuse of our free trial.

3. AI Processing - How Your Questions Are Used

Important: When you send a question to LAIRIK, your message is transmitted to API for AI processing. Google processes this data in accordance with their own privacy policies and data processing terms.

• We send your question and recent chat history (up to 10 messages) to API to generate a tutoring response.
• We do not intentionally send sensitive personal information such as your full name, phone number, or address to the AI API. Do not include such information in your chat messages.
• AI responses are generated automatically. We do not manually read individual student conversations during normal operation.
• We may review aggregated or anonymised chat patterns to improve our system prompt and tutoring quality.

4. Protection of Minors

Our primary users are students aged 14-16. We take the privacy of minors very seriously.

• We do not knowingly collect unnecessary personal information from users under 18 beyond what is required for account creation and service delivery.
• We do not display personalised advertising to any users, including minors.
• We do not share minor users' data with third parties for commercial purposes.
• Parents and guardians may contact us at support@lairik.in to request deletion of their child's account and all associated data.

5. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only with the following trusted service providers, strictly for the purpose of delivering LAIRIK:

We may also disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to a valid legal request from Indian governmental authorities.

6. Data Retention

• Account data: Retained for as long as your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion request.
• Chat history: Retained for 12 months to enable chat continuity. You may request deletion at any time.
• Analytics data: Retained in aggregated, anonymised form for up to 26 months (Google Analytics default).
• Payment records: Retained for 7 years as required by Indian financial regulations.

7. Your Rights

Under applicable Indian law and as a matter of our own policy, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account and personal data. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
• Chat history deletion: Request deletion of your chat history at any time without deleting your account.
• Opt-out of analytics: You may opt out of Google Analytics tracking by using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

8. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information:

• All data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS encryption).
• Firebase Authentication handles password hashing and secure token management.
• API keys and credentials are stored as server-side environment variables and are never exposed to the client.
• Access to our Firebase database is restricted by security rules that allow users to access only their own data.

While we take these precautions, no system is completely secure. In the event of a data breach that affects your rights, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

9. Cookies and Tracking

LAIRIK uses the following types of cookies and tracking technologies:

• Essential cookies: Required for authentication (Firebase session tokens). Cannot be disabled without breaking the service.
• Analytics cookies: Google Analytics 4 cookies for understanding usage patterns. These are anonymised.

We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. LAIRIK does not display advertisements and does not track users across other websites.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and notify active users via email or in-app notification at least 7 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of LAIRIK after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
